Photo Shoot Fresh!

Remember how I said that I want to get better about sharing project progress? Well here we go!

It's hard to ever say anything is really finished. As long as you're living in a space, it should be living with you. And as our lives change and evolve and become more dynamic, so should your space.

So is this really, really finished? For now. And I have to say, I'm totally feeling the fresh, serene vibe of this coastal master bedroom.

PS- It's really my clients who make these spaces totally wonderful. This room is for the parents of two sweet baby girls who needed a calm, peaceful place to rest and relax. I've loved seeing their personalities manifest in this room and am excited to share some other projects we're working on with them soon!

You Mad?!

I hope you're not! Mad, that is. Because I said that while we were gone, we'd post from vault, and we didn't. And I'd hoped to have a pretty little update of our lovely time in Maryland wrapped and ready by now, and I don't.

Life. Is. Getting. Crazy.

Some things you just can't plan for. That sounds like something bad, but in this case, it's quite the opposite. We have some really exciting things happening right now. Some we can talk about and some we can't.

Either way, things are busier than usual, but I promise to try to carve out a little time to keep y'all in the loop, friends.

Stay tuned! Things are about to get good!!

PS- How much do you love this pic? I snapped it at my pal Angie's house while were away. I couldn't resist. Plus I think I gave her that cat card. Obviously I would give cat cards.

Au Revoir

Well friends, we're heading up to Maryland today. That includes my sweet little Eva too. Hope she enjoys the flight!

We have an event and an exciting collaboration, so we'll have lots to share when we get back.

In the meantime, we're pulling some of our favorite post from the past out of the vault for your reading pleasure.

Throwback Thursday, anyone?

Warm Weather Go-To's

It's heating up (finally!!) down here in Charleston, so I thought I'd compile a little list of my favorite warm weather go-to's!

{1}{2}{3}{4}{5}{6}{7}{8}

For me, the essentials are all about the hair. My hair can get pretty lame in hot weather, so a good volumizing dry shampoo like Not Your Mother's is key. And when I'd rather not even mess with it, a good cloche or fedora saves the day. And on the beach or just running errands, some good headbands like these super cute ones from Anthro make an otherwise sloppy pony tail much cuter.

Two new favs are I Hate Perfume's At the Beach 1966, a not-too-perfumy, completely delish summer fragrance, and Pacifica Color Quench Lip Tint. I like Coconut Nectar. These paired with a bright mani/pedi in a shade like Paisley Martini from Scotch Naturals make me feel pulled together, even when that's a hard feeling to achieve in the hot hot heat.

We all need a good pair of sandal flats that can go just as easily with a tunic on the beach or a maxi dress at night. I like some kind of metallic, like these from Tory Burch, because it gives a pop to casual and can rise to the occasion for dressy.

And last but not least, warm weather calls for refreshment. I love Seagram's Key Lime seltzer...alone, or with some Malibu Rum!

Cheers!

Market Recap

If you follow me on Instagram, you know by the beacoups of pics posted that I just got back from Market.

It's a magical time that comes twice a year, spring and fall, when designers, buyers, enthusiasts and notables descend on the little town of High Point, North Carolina to scope out the latest and greatest of all things home design.

As a designer, it's one of my favorite events, and this year did not disappoint.

I'm writing this post with much excitement and a little dread at how long it may take to get all these pictures up, but it will be worth it!

Y'all, it was so good this year. We saw lots of mirrored furniture and lush textures (a la 1970), beautiful color combos, and some pretty amazing people.

I took so many pictures that my phone died several times each day and so I missed out on a few favs, but no one would ever know since I literally took about 1,000 pictures.

As you can imagine, narrowing down my experience was pretty hard, but I've done my best.

Here we go!

One of the first showrooms we hit was the new Pigeon & Poodle. I feel like the appeal is pretty obvious. The accessory line is full of nature-inspired texture in lots of lush coastal color.

I was delighted to see Charleston local lighting Ro Sham Beaux, a true fav, was in this show room as well. The whimsy-chic vignettes were completely charming and chatting with the J. Douglas girls was such a great way to start off our trip to Market.

My next favorite (these aren't in an particular order, by the way), was Natural Curiosities. This is a company out of LA that converted an old bowling alley into what is now their studio. I think my attraction was obvious since I lingered around for way longer than I probably should have, but they were just so dang nice and their work was uh-mazing.

Julie Parker, if you're reading this, I obviously thought of you when I saw this. And my powder room, I you recall.

Amazing screen prints everywhere...

I wish this wasn't blurry. That gold-leaf wing was beautiful.

And these that I somehow just couldn't look away from.

This showroom was so meticulously yet organically curated. My pictures don't do it justice at all. Everywhere you looked, there was something interesting. Fitting for the name.

I have a ton of pictures, and I don't want to overwhelm my little recap any more than it already is, so I think I'm going to do another post on Natural Curiosities a little later.

Absolutely wonderful!

These are two randoms that I can't remember the names of showrooms. I have their catalogues somewhere, but if you saw our stack of cards and books and catalogues, you'd understand why I can't wait on sorting through to post, so I'll get the source ASAP.

I love this bookshelf's interesting construction and ability to house a lot of books in a cool, organic way. Not for the type A's, but maybe that's what I like about it;) A lovely mess (in the best sense of the word). And the floor lamp is pretty great too.

And this is random number two. I actually have a very specific place in a current project for this. Love the elegant shape and finish. It's sophisticated without being stuffy, which is must for me. Love.

These two vignettes, the first by Amy Howard Home, and the second by Eloquence also attracted me because of their softness and incorporation of natural elements.

Topiaries and greenery were big, and I love them here. I also really found myself liking the juxtaposition of the tree-cut coffee table and the luxe velvet chairs. The picture doesn't do it justice.

This bedside vignette tends a little more to the shabby-chic side, which isn't always something I'm attracted to, but the whimsy lighting, butterfly box, and coral at the bottom of the bedside table really worked for me.

In the Surya showroom, I got to have a quick chat while perusing their new rug line with this sweet lady, Candice Olsen!

It must have been something about the rug showrooms, because there was another celeb wandering around Capel. Sorry for stalking you, Carson. And sorry the picture's blurry. I'd make a lousy paparazzi.

This wasn't the only Queer Eye guy I ran into, but I'm saving the best for last, okay?

Umm...no offense, Carson.

We had a fabulous tour of Thibaut and got to check out their new textile/wallpaper line, Monterey, which in all of it's cheerfulness was completely alluring.

And this was actually the first time I'd seen their furniture line in person. It was quite beautiful, as you would expect. I think the navy lacquered mirror is by oomph, which was also so fabulous.

Speaking of fabulous, it was a blast to meet the lovely Moore Councill team. By the time I staggered in to their showroom, I was so exhausted and sitting around a table chatting and sipping a mojito was just what I needed.

And it didn't hurt that their showroom was decked out in whimsy splendor. Really great people, and we can't wait to use their beautiful occasional furniture for some upcoming projects!

Are you tired yet?? I think this is by far the longest post ever to grace this blog.

But there's more!!

Yes, please! Love this by Madcap Cottage featuring wallpaper by Thibaut

And last but not least, my favorite showroom this year- Thom Filicia for Vangaurd

This man is the real deal, y'all. Such a down-to-earth person, which completely resonates in his line and in his work. If you're familiar with his book, American Beauty, you get it. To me, Thom's work is about authenticity and layers, playing up textures and adding interest, leaving nothing to be desired, without being overdone.

Chatting was lovely and his showroom was everything you'd expect. There was so much to love at market this year, but this was my favorite.

Everything about this- the glossy blue wall, the window panel, the wire-front cabinet and red shelves. I just love it.

Swanky.

Me and this guy had a moment. Or maybe it was the Chardonnay. Both were fantastic.

And there you have it! Inspiration abounds at a great spring market!

If you're interested in anything pictured, you can email us at hello@ameninspireddesign.com and we'd be happy to get you pricing and place an order for you.

Cheers!

Mur des Fleurs

I've been on a real kick avec le Français around here lately. Mur des Fleurs just has a ring to it, though. I don't know Julie Savage of Strawberry Milk Events personally, but I do know very well Angela Rich of oh olive! creative, who brought Julie's lush Baltimore office completely to life with this amazing paper flower wall.

The beginnings. As if this weren't enough...

How dreamy is this??

Julie, your office is absolutely divine. And by the way, that hedge shelf peaking through the corner is fab.

{Thanks Julie and Angie for the Instagram pics!}

And y'all, this is only the beginning for Angie and oh olive! creative. Right now her site's under construction, but you can keep up with her on Instagram and Twitter. She's got some exciting things in the works, so stay tuned!
